Check out this video for a quick overview of MBBS in Georgia for Indian students.
Shota Rustaveli State University of Batumi is an educational center, science, and culture in Georgia that has been standing for hundreds of years.
It started with the idea of setting up a boys’ gymnasium in Batumi in Adjara dating back to 1893. A women’s gymnasium was built subsequently in 1900 after the gymnasium had been run since 1897. The women’s gymnasium became a pedagogic institute and with time transformed into a pedagogic technical school for lower school teachers.
The two-year institute was created in 1935 and renamed Shota Rustaveli State University in 1938. Georgian scientists like Giorgi Akhvlediani and Giorgi Tsereteli contributed greatly to the institution's taking shape. Preparatory courses introduced in 1935 allowed for the admission of students coming from the mountains.
Following World War II, the institute became a pedagogical University and got additional spaces in the years 1956 and 1982. The dissolution of the Soviet Union made it possible for Ivane Javakhishivli’s dream to come true with the creation of a state university at Batumi in 1990. The university continued reforms, becoming a dual-tier education institution that offered a bachelor’s and a master’s degree program.
Some of these included the Batumi Botanical Garden which was merged in 2006 as well as others. This was followed by the widening of the university’s scientific research focus leading to the establishment of “the legal personality of public law –Shota Rustaveli State University.”
This was succeeded by other innovations such as the Niço Berdzenishvili Institute, institute of Agricultural and Membrane Technologies, and Institutional for Phytopathology and Biodiversity respectively. The university got its official name in 2012 “Shota Rustaveli State University of Batumi”.
It currently consists of seven faculties that focus on economics, exact sciences, law and sociology, natural sciences and medicine, technological professions, tourism, and philological studies respectively. The university currently has over 8,000 students spread across numerous programs, with a staff comprising 277 full-time professors, 69 scientific associates, and 460 visiting teachers.
Its accreditation and authorization show that the institution is very committed to promoting quality education which entails various accredited educational programs. However, the university still focuses on both orthodox and new areas of study with up-to-date teaching technologies such as electronic learning.
Research work and training in science, humanities, social sciences, law, mathematics, computer science, engineering and technology; business management, health, and agricultural science is carried out at Shota Rustaveli State University of Batumi. This is demonstrated by collaboration with the world's top universities, organizing international conferences, or being involved in international scientific exhibitions and exchanges.

Considering your application as early as possible is the best way to go. After all, the sooner you gain acceptance into a university, the sooner you can arrange your travels. To avoid disappointment, note down all the relevant application deadlines (set out by your chosen university) in HUGE LETTERS on your calendar.
Application deadlines will be different depending on the school, but, for programs starting in the fall (September/October), applications will generally be open from early in the year (January/February) until the middle of the year (June/July)..
Whether you can stay back after the completion of your course varies from country to country. For example, the UK allows international students to remain for four months after completing the course (for a degree-level course they can stay for 12 months or more). In the US, an F1 student visa holder can complete up to a year of temporary employment directly related to their major field of study. However, employment must be found within 90 days of the completion of the course. If you have completed at least two years of study in Australia, you may stay back for 18 months to gain work experience.
Not necessarily. Some countries allow students to stay back to gain experience or seek temporary employment. You can apply for a work visa afterwards and if approved continue to stay there.
Absolutely. digibank by DBS offers education loans for students who wish to study abroad at attractive interest rates. You can start repaying your student loan a year after your studies are completed or six months after getting your first job, whichever is earlier.
Once you are on campus, you may feel the need to transfer to a different university. In such scenarios, the consequences on the validity of your student visa will depend on your university. When you are granted a visa to study at a university abroad, it is usually based on the university's requirements. If you wish to change to a different university, you may need to cancel your student visa and apply afresh, depending on the rules governing visas in the country you are studying in.
Almost all major universities ask international students to open a local bank account. It helps you pay bills and accept payment for part-time work. Opening of a bank account is part of the orientation programme at most universities. Your liaison officer or advisor on campus will help you through the process.
